Hello, my name is Oliver Schmidt and I am the founder and Craftsman of

Pitch Green Woodwork.

PGW is a small-scale, artisanal woodwork business dedicated to making timeless pieces by hand. Every item is handcrafted in Buckinghamshire, using mostly European-sourced, premium prime-grade solid timbers. Wherever possible, components are formed from single solid pieces of wood, avoiding jointed boards and shortcuts to ensure strength, integrity, and longevity.

My work is rooted in traditional techniques and classic designs, with each piece carefully hand finished to allow the natural character of the timber to speak for itself. Crafted carefully and deliberately, these are pieces made to last - furniture and wooden goods designed to age beautifully and be used for generations.

My journey into craftsmanship began at a young age, learning in the workshop alongside my Grandad, where patience, precision, and respect for materials were instilled early on. This foundation was later strengthened through a four-year apprenticeship at Ercol, one of Britain’s most respected furniture makers, where traditional skills, attention to detail, and an uncompromising approach to quality were refined.
The result is honest, enduring work - made with care, intention, and a deep respect for the craft.
